Announcements
If you are planning to graduate in May 2012 you need to apply for graduation. You can do this through the portal (my.american.edu). Click on “Academics” and then “Apply to Graduate”. You do not need to indicate your concentration.
If you will have only one course left to take after the spring semester, you will be able to request permission to participate in the May commencement activities. You will need to apply for August 2012 graduation, and in the “Comments” section you should indicate that you have 3 credits remaining, and plan to “walk” in May.

The Public Purpose
The Public Purpose is a student-run, peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal presenting the work of graduate students from the SPA Departments of Government; Justice, Law, and Society; and Public Administration and Policy. Founded in 2003, The Public Purpose is supported by the SPA Graduate Council, with the involvement and guidance of SPA faculty. The journal is released annually in the spring, providing a forum for graduate students to publish papers and original research on timely topics and fostering the awareness and discussion of those topics within the SPA community.
